TPS23861 four pair class 5 - compatible PD EVM boards and off the shelf splitters

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23861EVM-612, TPS2379, TPS23861, PMP7499

Dear TI support staff,

Would you kindly enumerate which PD EVM boards may be connected to gigabit ethernet connectors of kit TPS23861EVM-612 ?

I'd like to know also if there are off the shelf splitters (12 V output) compatible with this class 5 EVM ports.

Best wishes

Newton Bomeisel Cardoso

  • Hi Newton,

I recommend looking at the TPS2379 for this type of application. It's EVM uses two ETH1-230LD that are capable of gigabit Ethernet as described in its datasheet. You can use the GUI of the TPS23861 to test this solution out with 2 ports.

Unfortunately, I do not know of any off the shelf splitters. However, if looking for a 12V design I recommend looking at PMP7499 which uses the TPS2379.
  • Hello Darwin,

    Thank you for the answers.

As for a compatible off the shelf splitter, I've got a reply from Phihong, stating that Phihong's PoE splitter POE45-120 is compatible with Phihong's PSE POE80U-560G. That reply lead me to:

According to TI's document slva498.pdf, section 6.8, TI’s PD kit TPS2379 is compatible with Phihong’s PSE POE80U-560G. I addition, as you said, TPS2379 is compatible with TPS23861.

So I understand that Phihong's PoE splitter POE45-120 is compatible with TI’s PSE Controller TPS23861.

Could you check if my reasoning is correct?

    Best wishes,
