We are using TPS3808 supervisory IC in our product. By mistake pin 4 (Ct) is connected to Vdd directly and the part is in production. I want to know what is the effect of this connection on long term use of the part in product and whether the IC will have any damage done to it. Thanks in advance. I am not worried about delay as what we have is sufficient.

Hi Vijay,

Ct shorted to VDD is a valid condition for this device. Per the Electrical Characteristics table, Ct = VDD yields a 300ms delay time.

As this is a valid operating condition, there are no adverse long term affects. You will simply have a time delay of 300ms rather than your intended delay.

Hi Vijay,

Upon further investigation, a 40k to 200k resistor should be used when connecting Ct to Vdd. This resistor is mentioned on page 9 of the datasheet. This resistor is for current limiting to the Ct pin. I apologize for speaking too quickly earlier.
