TLV809: The Delay time Range.

Part Number: TLV809
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3808

Hi Expert,

The datasheet mentions the typical delay time is 200mS, but the range is 120mS~280mS. As I know, the key problem is the temperature, but why it so big range? What's the delay circuit inside? It's a Cap or something? Thanks!

  • Jerry,

The range is only big depending on your application and relative to other devices. Some devices have much larger range of delay than this device. It is due to the internal timer inside the device. If you want a smaller delay time range, check out TPS3808 which has typical delay of 20ms with min of 12ms and max of 28ms. If you want a very specific delay, you will want to use a programmable delay device. If you want very precise device with little to no delay, you will want a No-delay voltage detector. See the Supervisors and Reset IC reference guide below for a variety of options.

"Fixed delay" devices typically have a wider range than the "programmable delay" devices or the "no delay" devices. I hope this helps!

  • Hi Michael,

Thanks for your reply, I will check the "programmable delay" device for the application.

BTW, what's internal timer simple architecture in "fixed delay" devices? I just want to know why the accuracy is not good.
