TPS3850: looking for Reset / Watchdog IC alternative

Hello,

one of my customers is looking for a Reset / Watchdog IC with the following specs:

  • 2V Powerfail reset
  • 100ms WDT timeout
  • 200ms reset pulse
  • Open Drain output

For that I proposed the TPS3850, but here the WDT needs to be deactivated by the SET pins. The customer is not satisfied with that feature. Do we have a similar part which activates the WDT when the first rising edge is present?

    Felix,

    The TPS3850 is a good option. Yes, you can use the SET pins to disable but if you need a 100ms WDT timeout, then you don't need to disable the WDT. Using the SET pins to disable is very desirable because this can be done during normal circuit operation which most Watchdog devices can't do (if the WDI pin is fixed either high or low in layout like other devices).

    Other devices we have that allow you to leave the WDI pin floating (or high impedance) for disable are the TPS382x family with TPS3828 being an open-drain output option.
