TPS3850: WDI and WDO functionality

Part Number: TPS3850

Hello Sir,

Can you please tell me shortly how to use TPS3850 IC, because I see there is a timer for Reset pin to Microcontroller in Under voltage and over voltage condition in the rail. So, why the need of WDI and WDO ?

Thanks

  • Hi Akilan,

do you know what a watchdog is and what it is used for?

  • Akilan,

This device is a undervoltage + overvoltage monitor with a window watchdog (WDI is the watchdog input, WDO is the watchdog output). Basically, the watchdog is used to monitor the microcontroller or processor. The microcontroller needs to send a pulse to the WDI pin every so often (timing set by the SET1, SET0 pins along with the CWD capacitor) and if the microcontroller does not send a pulse within the specific time, then the WDO pin will go active. We have many supervisors that don't have the watchdog feature which might be what you want.

Please describe what you want for your application and I can help you choose the correct device. Thanks!
