UCD90120A OC and Rail #1 Error

UCD90120A is a sequencer and system manager. If one rail failed to start or has fault, it will shut down the system to prevent further damage. Although what you observed is EN pins not being asserted by UCD90120A, the root cause can be a power rail failure.

Please connect Fusion Digital Power Designer GUI to the board through USB-to-GPIO adapter. The Fusion GUI can read fault logs from UCD90120A. If the fault is on Rail#1, then you'll need to debug the power converter for Rail#1.

After using the Monitor in Fusion Digital Power Designer and noticing 0V coming from Rail #1, I went to Tools > Clear Configuration and I then reprogrammed using Digital Power Manufacturing Tool and the xml provided by Xilinx. As it was programming, all the LEDs and the CPU fan which would not turn on before, briefly turned on and then returned to their previous off states. Now, however, In the Monitor, I see 1V at Rail #1, but 0V at Rail #2. I also see a pretty high current of 2.3A at Iout #1. I attach an image of the Fusion Digital Power Designer to see if you can assist further.

The brief turn-on moments are normal when the device is under programming process.
You can go to Status page to see if there is any fault logged.

I am getting the following in the Status page. Suggestions?

PEC is Packet Error Code. PEC fault means the PEC byte received does not match the data bytes received. This is communication fault. I would not think it is related to power rail.

PowerGood# means Not Power Good. If any rail is not power good, the PowerGood# will be shown.

Based on the screenshot, there is no OV or UV fault. It means a rail failed to start from the beginning, and possibly, the UCD90120A held off the rest of power up sequence waiting for the failed rail to become PowerGood. In this case, you may see multiple EN pins not asserted. But root cause is one rail that have EN pin asserted but failed to start.

Find the power rail that failed to start, and fix it. If there are damaged components, you will need to replace them. You may need to contact Xilinx for customer support.

Hi Diego, I have the exact same issue with my Xilinix ZC06 board. Did you manage to find a fix for this ? When I run the TI tools I also observe 0 Volts on Rail #1. Also as you described " whenI run through the script to load the xml settings and everything gives me a green checkmark until I get to the Validate_101 step, where I get a "READ_OUT on rail#1(0.001V) was not within 5% of VOUT_COMMAND(1.000V)" error"

Please make sure that rail is turn on properly, there is no fault reported on the rails.

If i use USB GPIO Firmware Version 1.0.13 to download the xml script, then Rail #1 is in error.

If i use USB GPIO Firmware version 1.0.14 then Rail#1 is powered up but Rail#2 is not up, because Enable for Rail#2 is not asserted.

Plz suggest something.
