BQ51025 FOD Application note

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51025, BQ500215, BQ51020

Hello all,

I was wondering if I could get access to the FOD application note for the BQ51025 wireless receiver IC.   I'm trying to lay out a schematic and it seems I'm stuck without it.

Thanks

  • Jacob,

The current method for calculation of the RFOD and Ros values uses a TI supplied GUI (use the one from the bq51020) and a tool from a third party (calibrated transmitter).  This system can work up to 5W.  Since the bq51025 is capable of 10W when paired with the bq500215 transmitter the FOD calibration tools are not capable of doing the full calibration.

Our recommendation is to do the calibration up to 5W and get a "flat" curve.  The GUI and its reference manual will explain the details.  Once the RFOD and Ros are verified at 5W, move to the 10W transmitter and verify the values up to 5W. Once that confirmation is done, test up to your maximum operating power and verify the results.  You may find that some additional changes are needed in the values for RFOD and Ros.

We strongly recommend at least two resistors for Ros and RFOD to allow for precise values based on the results.

    Regards,

    Dick

  • Thank you! So for now I can choose some relatively default resistors (maybe taken from the dev kit), then when we get a prototype built up, do the final calibration and choose our final resistor values for the product.

    Is this correct?
  • Jacob,

    You are exactly correct.
