TRF37C75 / 3.5GHz RF flequency

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TRF37C75EVM

Hi,

Our customer is evaluating TRF37C75EVM. When they use for 3.5GHz RF flequency, should capacitor and inductor be optimised ? If so, please let me know the recommended value ?

Best Regards,

Kato

  • Kato-san:

The characterization data was taken with the above component values so no change is necessary.  If operation is exclusivley in the 3.5 GHz range, the coupling capacotors (C1,C2) could be reduced to something like 10 pF or less.  The value is not critical other than to provide a good AC coupling path at the frequency of interest.

The RF choke could be modified as well.  The RF choke used on the EVM is a Coilcraft 0603HP 100 nH inductor.  The choke can be reduced to something like a Coilcraft 0603HP-18NX 18 nH which would increase the SRF (Self Resonance Frequency) to around 3.5 GHz.  The purpose of the inductor is to provide a good RF choke at the frequency of interest; it is not used for matching purposes.
