Order in which registers are filled in LMX2492 PLL

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2492

In the data sheet for LMX2492 PLL, it is mentioned that the registers are programmed in reverse order, i.e. highest registers first. It is also stated that the RAMP_EN bit should be set after all ramp parameters have been set. But since RAMP_EN is part of a lower register than the ramp parameters, isn't it redundant to stress that RAMP_EN should be set after all ramp parameters have been set? I am asking simply to know if I have missed anything. Since registers are programmed in reverse order, it automatically implies that RAMP_EN will be programmed after the parameters.

  • Edward,
The action of programming RAMP_EN activates the ramping functions. The issue here is not all ramp parameters are set. SUre, teh ramp values are set, but in lower registers are things like the N and R dividers, and many other critical features. So when RAMP_EN is programmed to one, you would also want these words programmed correctly as they would also impact the ramps.
