FDC2214EVM: GUI latency issue

Hi Team,

one of my customers is seeing an odd behavior with the GUI. When they start data logging and increase the range to 500 they are starting to see a latency between when they touch the sensor and the spike shows up on the screen. The green bar is still all the way to the right (with 1024 as the max value) so I'm not sure what would be causing this. Even after they press the stop button, data will continue to stream in for a few seconds. The same behavior exhibits on the LDC1614 EVM.

Any ideas what could be causing this? I have a feeling it's something simple with the GUI configuration but I haven't seen it before and can't recreate it on my kit.

Hi Nathaniel,

Can you verify the EVM update rate in the GUI config is set to max, that will result in a lower latency.

Hi Varn,

Thanks for the quick help. I'll have them check and get back to you if that was the issue. I'm also having them list any changes they made to the registers or configuration tab.

Hi Varn,

Following up with this. The customer said that the issue happens even with default settings. It sounds like some kind of software glitch. I'm asking him to reinstall and reboot his system. It happens for both FDC and LDC EVMs and I can't recreate it.

Do you have any other ideas we should try?

Hi Nathaniel,

Has the user updated the EVM data sample rate? Sorry, this wasn't clear from the last update.

I would in addition have them update to the latest firmware builds included in the GUI installation folder.

Hi Varn,

No the customer doesn't change the EVM update rate, they are just using default settings on the GUI. They also installed the GUI on a new computer and it gives the same issue, but the FDC1004evm does not do this on the same GUI.

Are you suggesting they update the firmware on the EVM? or update the GUI on the computer?

Turns out the firmware update worked! It just took an extra power cycle for it to take effect.
