Firmware update gets stuck and my device in not responsible now.

what I tried:

 - run tool as administrator

 - use firmware EVM_HDC20x0.txt instead of HDC10x0_EVM_Firmware.txt

  • TI Support team will contact your shortly.
  • Hi Stefan,

sorry for the delay in the answer, but finally I was able to find a workaround that enables you to recover your EVM.

First of all you should download and install the old GUI for HDC1000EVM:

    /cfs-file/__key/communityserver-discussions-components-files/1023/6457.snvc172.zip

After the installation is complete, please run the HDC1000EVM GUI. Please select Tools->Flash Firmware, and press "Open" button.

Select "HDC10x0_EVM_Firmware.txt" under C:\ti\Sensing Solutions EVM GUI-1.9.2\EVM Firmware\Older Revs folder.

Now you need to to manually get the EVM into the BSL mode shorting the PUR pin to VUSB pin on the MSP430:

as shown in the following picture you can find the PUR signal on the bottom terminal of the R40 resistor, and VUSB on the bottom terminal of C6 capacitor.

You can short-circuit the two signals for example with a tweezers, as shown in the follow photo:

Keeping the PUR pin and the VUSB pin shorted and connecting the EVM to the USB port, the EVM should enter in BSL mode, and the GUI should recognize it:

Press Update, and the EVM should be updated with the correct firmware.

At the end of the download, remove the short between PUR pin and VUSB pin, and disconnect and ri-connect the EVM to the USB.

Now it should be work again in combination with the sensing solution GUI.

Please let me know if this works also for you.

    Best regards,

    Carminw

    fails to download. it says

"Access Denied (Note: a common reason this message is displayed is because the thread was deleted)

  • I got the HDC1000 EVM GUI from local TI representative, and the solution does not work for me.

When i connect the device, it is recognised by GUI as already in BSL mode
If i connect PUR to VUSB as per instructions, device leaves BSL mode. flashing results in "device not in BSL mode"

if i do update with "HDC10x0_EVM_Firmware.txt" while in BSL mode, it says:
"waiting for BSL close xx%", then gets stuck at "RAM BSL version 00.06.00.00 Incorrect! 50%". shorting PUR to VUSB does not make difference in what error messages i get.

furthermore, my D1/D2 never light up.
