Can LDCxxx be placed inside of the coil?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1612, LDC0851

Hi TI team,

There is a lot of space inside of sensor's coil - will the LDC0851 (LDC1612, ...) properly function inside the PCB coil?

Best wishes,

  • Hello Igor,

This should be possible but I am little concerned about how it will affect sensitivity; I would need to look into this a little bit more. I will get back to you by tomorrow.

  • Hello Igor,

The solution you suggested should work given a few caveats. The LDC0851 leadframe is metallic and would introduce a constant offset to both LSENSE and LREF which will affect the sensitivity. This effect would decrease with the increase in size of the sensor coils.

We currently do not have any performance data with such a configuration but in theory what you suggest should work.

    Varn.
