LDC1312: Flexible Coil

Part Number: LDC1312

Hi,

Is it possible to use a flexible coil adhesive instead of a PCB coil?

Looks "like" this:

If so, what materials should be use? Any recommendations?

PS.: The application is paper thickness measurement. If you can suggest anything about this subject, I would appreciate it.

Best regards!

  • Hi Leandro,

Are you referring to FPCBs or Flex PCBs? If so, yes we have multiple designs that use flex PCBs as coils for inductive sensing applications. Flex PCBs have more forgiving mechanical tolerances so you'll be able to fit in more turns in a given amount of space and be able to design much smaller coils.

An adhesive layer like a PSA (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive) can be added to the FPCB as a final step.

    Regards,

    Varn.
  • Hello Varn,

Thank you for your information about the flex PCBs.

About the paper thickness measurement, do you have any application notes?

    Best regards.
