TMP007

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP007

I'm trying to use the TMP007 in an application for measuring tire temperature. The sensor itself is centered on a PCB that is in a aluminum tube. One side of the tube has a sealed connector on it that breaks out the I2C signals. The other end has a air chuck that attaches to the tire. The end of the air chuck that is threaded into the tube is .5" away from the face of the TMP007. When the tube is connected to a tire, the tube becomes sealed.

The problem is only during the initial pressurization of the tube to the tire does the TMP007 report an accurate temperature reading. Once the tube is pressurized, the readings are not that of the tire. I thought the sensor would have measured the radiated IR energy from the tire without airflow, as it does when I put my hand in front of it when I removed it from the tube.

Confused and need help!!!

  • Hi Dan,

Would you please provide a mechanical drawing of your application? You can send to my email aaron.heng@ti.com. According to your description, TMP007 might not fit your application since it is sensitive to air movement. Please send your drawing, I'll review if TMP007 works for your application.
