TMP007 measure on loner distance

I need to measure temperature on a object that is max 50mm away. The question is if that will work? See picture below:

I have ordered some samples of tmp007 to test it. As for now this looks impossible, maby im wrong.

What do you say at TI?

    50mm is less than what we typically use in characterization of the device. There should be no issue there. However, your Field-Of-View is actually quite small. What is the size of the object you wish to measure?

    The DUT is big. Lets say 250x400mm.

    1. - How long is the response time on longer distace
    2. - You say; characterization of the device. What dose that mean?
    2.1 - Is it possible to use it on that distance continuously?

    With an object that big, you could use a larger FOV, and get more signal sensitivity. I would recommend making your hole at least 0.35mm, because that's the size of the sensor.

    1. I don't have any data on this, nor any reason to believe that longer distances have a noticeable change in response time.
    2. I'm referring to the testing that was performed during product development prior to release to market.
