TMP007 measure on loner distance

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMP007

I need to measure temperature on a object that is max 50mm away. The question is if that will work? See picture below:

I have ordered some samples of tmp007 to test it. As for now this looks impossible, maby im wrong.

What do you say at TI?

  • 50mm is less than what we typically use in characterization of the device. There should be no issue there. However, your Field-Of-View is actually quite small. What is the size of the object you wish to measure?

  • The DUT is big. Lets say 250x400mm.

    1. - How long is the response time on longer distace
    2. - You say; characterization of the device. What dose that mean?
2.1 - Is it possible to use it on that distance continuously?

  • With an object that big, you could use a larger FOV, and get more signal sensitivity. I would recommend making your hole at least 0.35mm, because that's the size of the sensor.

    1. I don't have any data on this, nor any reason to believe that longer distances have a noticeable change in response time.
    2. I'm referring to the testing that was performed during product development prior to release to market.
    3. Yes.
