Hi Team,

I received the following request, can you help, please?

We have decided to use IWR1642 (FMCW modulated radar) in retail sector ( person counting with door in-out and child seperation feature if possible). Could you give us any succesfull example with estimated accuracy rate (>%95). Our customer needs high accurate and child - adult separation. We have evaluated Tof and Stereovision solutions. But accuracy rate is not enough.

Hi Fabio,

Please see our TI Design for the test results section at the bottom.

The IWR1642 will not be able to distinguish human vs child, as it does not have any height information. (Data is 2D). However, the IWR6843 supports 3T4R which can give full 3D data. This could be used to determine the heights of the tracked people. Please note that the current People Counting lab still uses 2D data, but we expect to change this in the future.
