CCS/CC3220SF-LAUNCHXL: Uniflash does not starts Image Creator on Linux

Part Number: CC3220SF-LAUNCHXL
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, CC3220SF

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi ! I have problem with start ImageCreator on linux (Debian 9 x86_64).

I start Uniflash version 4.5.02056. It detects my hardware (CC3220SF LAUNCHPAD) well. When I press button "Start" Image Creator not starts. If I select CC3220-LAUNCHXL (or CC31XX/CC32XX Serial) from menu and press "Start Image Creator" it also not starts. When I select CC3220SF On-Chip and "Texas Instruments XDS 110 USB Debug Probe", "Configured Device" pane appears and works well (I can read chip memory). But I cannot start Image Creator.

When I run Uniflash on Windows (same computer), all works well. Hardware detects, Image Creator starts and chip memory is possible to read. On windows I tries to run SLImageCreator.exe from command line. It prints on console

So, I think that it cannot find sl_image_creator_gen3/antimanifest.py . But I don't know where this file is placed. Help me please to fix this bug ! It is important for me to run linux version.

Regards

Eugene

  • Eugene,

Unfortunately I can't reproduce this on Ubuntu 16.04; perhaps this may be either due to a corrupted install or an intrinsic incompatibility with Debian 9.

One strange detail, however, that caught my eye: why is your Uniflash on Linux accessing the "Downloads" directory? Where exactly did you install this software? On the machine above I installed it under /home/user/ti/uniflash_4.5.0 as a regular user (not "sudo")

    Regards,

    Rafael

  • Do you know what the python version on the machine is? I believe ImageCreator requires 2.7. Maybe 3.0 is the default on this machine?

    John
  • My usernsme is eugenk. And so installation directory is /home/eugenk/ti/uniflash_4.5.0

Is there some way how to check it ?
  • Yes ! Now look at my default python. It is python 3.7 from Anaconda. Change it to python 2.7. SLImageCreator not works. Changed only error message. Now it is:

  • Eugene,

I have an early release of UniFlash 4.6 that the team believes will correct this issue. I will send you a friend request. Once you accept that I can send you a private message with the link.

    Regards,
    John
  • Eugene,

I have a link to give to you. As it is not the final release I don't want to stick it in the public forum. If you accept the friend request I sent you I can provide it via a private message. If you want to wait for the official release it will be out shortly.

    Regards,
    John
  • Note that UniFlash 4.6 is now publicly available.
