CC256x Bluetooth Hardware Evaluation Tool for Win7

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2564, CC2564MODN

Hi,

I can install CC256x Bluetooth Hardware Evaluation Tool in Win7 well.

But I can't send SP to CC2564.MODN after selecting SP. The message is "COM port time out".

The FAE told me the cause is Window OS. He wanted me to use "CC256x Bluetooth Hardware Evaluation Tool" in WinXP.

Does TI have the new  version of "CC256x Bluetooth Hardware Evaluation Tool" for Win7?

Is there any way else if we want to run  "CC256x Bluetooth Hardware Evaluation Tool" in Win7 because we have no WinXP PC?

Thank You

Kim

  • Hi Kim,

Bluetooth Hardware Evaluation Tools works very well with Windows 7 (my setup).
I suspect the problem is elsewhere.

    (1) Are you using the correct COM port?
    (2) Which host MCU are you running? Are you downloading the transparent code or something similar on the MCU?

    Regards,
    Gigi Joseph.
  • Hi, Gigi,
    I just tested CC2564MODN.
    I use a dongle of USB-UART to connect Win7 PC with CC2564MODN.
Is it OK for using USB-UART to connec Win7 PC with CC2564MODNt ? Or I need use the MCU like MSP430?
Our host MCU is ST STM32F429 in our PCB. Do you have the transparent code for ST 32F429?

  • Hi Kim,

No I don't have a transparent code for STM32F429. But it is possible to directly connect the CC256xB with the Win7 and use the BHET tool. But you need to ensure proper device power up sequence.

  • Hi, Gigi,

My set up is as below.

I used another tool, TI HCI Tester, and found that it worked very well.(I can read the MAC address successfully)

But it can't work in BHET tool. So I think the cause is not the power up sequence.

Is there any other suggestion else?

    Thank You

    KIm Yeh

  • Hi Kim,

If the same setup can work with HCI Tester, I don't see any reason why it cannot work with BHET.
I also don't understand why you need BHET tool if you have HCI Tester working.

Can you share the CC256x Logger logs for the BHET case? I want to confirm if the device is powered up correctly.

    Regards,
    Gigi Joseph.
  • Hi, Gigi,

The log of BHET and is HCI Tester is as below.

The reason I want to use BHET is that it's easy and friendly for using. I don't need to edit the script of HCI Command.

  • Hi,

I meant the logger logs with BHET.
    Please see: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../CC256x_Logger_User_Guide for instructions.

I don't see any reason why it can work with HCI Tester and not with BHET.
Please note that the BHET does not support UART HW flow control. Therefore, the User UART RTS and CTS lines should not be used.

    Gigi Joseph.
  • Hi, Gigi,

Follows are my setting. Could you help me review my setting.

          1. HCI Tester: 8N1, Baud Rate: 115200, Flow control: hardware

              Result: Running well

          2. BHET:  8N1, Baud Rate: 115200, Flow control:no, SP: initscripts-TIInit_6.7.16_bt_spec_4.0.bts

Result: "Com port timed out" when loading SP

          3. Logger: 8N1, Baud Rate: 115200, Flow control:no, ili file: BRF6450_1.0_SP0.8.ili, xml file: HCILib.xml

            Result: No logs.

    Thank You
