Hello,

I am using custom board for my application and i am using simple peripheral example code,

Here when i load program using debugger and then disconnect it and give supply to custom board of cc2640 it's not advertising,

here I would like to mention that i am using custom board which is of 5x5 package.

but when i use it on debugger it's advertising and working properly.

so what could be the possible reason for this problem.

If you run simpl_peripheral example with OAD, you need to download BIM into your costom board too.

Hello YK Chen,

I am not using simple_peripheral with OAD so i don't think I need BIM, I am connecting custom board with jumpers with launchpad.
It should advertise but it's not on standalone mode.

Are you sure your device is well powered when you run it on standalone mode?

yes, it's well powered.
i've used "Power_setConstraint", now it's working standalone but it's consuming more power.
so what could be the possible solution instead of Power_setConstraint.

no still couldn't find any solution,
is it because of crystal ?
because I am using a custom board and board don't have external crystal of 32mhz.

Hello,

we don't have any external crystal on board,
internal crystal is there of 24mhz and any it's quartz crystal I guess.

Hello Jaydipsinh,

You'll need an external 24 MHz crystal oscillator to use the radio. 32 kHz crystal oscillator is optional.

Hello Simon,

Yes, 32kHz is optional and on my custom board I have 24mHz crystal but for multirole example I need 32mHz crystal, is it possible to make work multirole example with 24mHz crystal.

No, for multirole you'll need an external 32 kHz crystal, it's not possible to use the 24 MHz crystal.

Hello Simon,

multirole is just one part, I am working with simple peripheral also,
so in that when I give external supply it stops advertising,
I am using feasycom's FCS-BT616 module,
so how to solve the issue without disabling any power constraints.

Hello,

Without an external 32 kHz oscillator you'll have limited functionality on your board. Please refer to this Application Report for more information: www.ti.com/.../swra499b.pdf

I know about this, i wanted to know that why peripheral is not advertising on battery.
in this document there is not information about it and please don't suggest to read any documents because i already did read many but i haven;t found anything.

Can you toggle a pin or LED in you application to verify that the MCU is running when you power it form battery?

no still i couldn't solve this problem,
i have checked the hardware troubleshooting guide but in that also i couldn't find.
In that i read about DCDC settings,
what's that?
it can happen that it's creating problem?

Hi,

Where you able to see if the MCU is running or not when you power your board from a battery?

CC2640R2F has a internal DCDC regulator, but you'll need external components (an inductor and a capacitor) to use it.

Can you share your schematics?

Hello,

I am powering through launchpad only for now and also powering from battery,

and while I connect battery for the first time it will start advertise for one or two seconds ,

then it stops.

I am using feasycom's FSC-BT616 module and i don't know if it has external cap and inductor.

I am sharing datasheet of that module please find in above link.

Do you connect the battery to 3V3_BT? Are U3 and U1 mounted on your board?

is there anyone know what could be the problem?
Custom board contains cc2640r2f 5x5 controller.
it has one 24mHz crystal.
simple peripheral is working fine in debugging mode but while in standalone mode it's not advertising.
experts please help on this.
