Data rate settings for cc1200 in PER Test example

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1200

hai guys,

im using cc1200 radio module. The PER Test example has the data rates 1.2Kbps,50Kbps and 200 Kbps.I need to test for data rates upto 1Mbps.So i exported the register format in SmartRF Studio to the PER test code.i changed the LowRFsettings in PER code  to 1.2Kbps from smart RF Studio(i used the 1.2mbps register settings from smart rf studio just to check whether it is working).i used Link bypass mode and could not be able to receive packets. Then,i used easy link test and i was able to receive packets. Why is that difference?

  • The RX BW is set low in the SmartRF Studio settings for 1.2 kbps. Try to increase the RX BW/ use the same value as in the easylink code.
  • Thanks TER.
i have changed the receiver filter bandwidth to 20 KHz and it worked. The default bandwidth settings provided in Smart RF studio for 1.2Kbps not seems to work. Why is that?As calculated by carsons rule for 1.2 kbps and modulation index 2,the bandwidth comes approximately around 10.8Khz.So why we have to increase the bandwidth again to 20KHz.
  • The default settings will work if you have the exact same RF frequency on the DUTs. The crystal inaccuracy will cause the DUTs to send with slightly different frequencies and therefore the Rx bandwidth has to be increased. It's several posts on the forum on how to calculate the required Rx bandwidth.
