COM port timed out after SP with an usb/serial converter

Hello,

I wanted to send the Service Pack to an CC256XQFNEM with CC256x Bluetooth Hardware Evalutation Tool.

I use an usb/serial converter from FTDI.

I sent the last SP, the CC2560B V1.2.

I disabled sleep mode with Modify SP.

I choose the good Serial Port and Baud rate.

But after sending SP, Debug Trace show an "COM port timed out"

I checked with an oscilloscope on rx pin if the first byte is sent, it's ok.

I didn't see solution on your forum when an usb/serial converter is used.

How can I solve my problem ?

Hi,

I don't use the MSP430, my PC is directly connected to the HCI interface through an usb/serial converter, as it said in your wiki. processors.wiki.ti.com/.../CC256x_Bluetooth_Hardware_Evaluation_Tool

I supply slow clk with an oscillator and nshutd with the power supply of my usb/serial converter, so it's high immediately after power on.

I also modified SP to disable Sleep mode.

Is it really possible to connect a PC directly to the HCI interface as said in you wiki ?

Hi,

Yes, it is possible to connect a PC directly with the CC256x device.
I suspect there is an issue with the module power up. Do you see the HCI_RTS going low? Can you verify the full power up sequence - processors.wiki.ti.com/.../CC256x_Testing_Guide ?

Hi,

Yes my HCI_RTS go low after power up, around 230 ms after power up.
My power up sequence seems to be good according to your wiki page.

I also saw HCI_CTS, this one stays high.

Benoit,

If HCI_CTS is high, then the CC256x won't send any data. You need to check on why the FTDI is not setting low this line.
