802.11n version of CC3000?

The current version of CC3000 is b/g only.

I would like to ask it this way :  Is there a plan for b/g/n version of CC3000 ?

This is unfortunate.  We are seeing stronger and stronger  demand from our customers to support  "n"  for the reason stated in the beginning of this thread.  If we could be assured that TI has plans to come out with a pin and api compatible replacement module for the CC 3000 that supported "n"  we will continue our development with the CC3000.  If not we are forced to reset our development and look to another chip.

The belief that having a G device will slow down all N devices is not true. I know this will not help much, as customers believe it to be true, but perhaps some education may help.

You will notice that having a B device will effect G and N devices, and this is likely the source of this misunderstanding.

Thanks for the prompt reply.  While I appreciate and understand technically that there may not be an issue with "g", getting customers to understand is a different thing.  When they can get a competing product with "n" it puts ours at a disadvantage even though we may have differentiating features that make our solution a better one to meet their requirements.   What I am encouraging TI to consider is support for "n" so that users of their device do not get locked out of RFQ that have "n" has a checklist item.

I completely appreciate that the customer perception will always overrule the reality. This is just a basic fact of life, albeit an annoying one.

In regards to CC3000 feature set, the product currently has a number of glaring bugs that don't seem to be getting any attention, so I think the chance of having new features added is rather remote, especially features that the device is unlikely able to perform (not enough firmware space for a start). 

There is the WiLink 8, which provides everything you could need. But there is no support for the Tiva C (ARM Cortex M4F) which is a shame from my perspective. Not sure what platform you are using, but if it is TI Sitara (ARM Cortex A8 and ARM9), then it would be worth checking out - http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/wireless_connectivity/wilink/overview.page

Thanks for the insight.  Unfortunately we are using Cortex M3 processor and the TCP/IP stack and SPI interface provided by CC3000 were compelling.  The SDIO I/F and apparent lack of stack in the WL1801 are major stumbling blocks as they drive us to higher price processors that become too expensive.  If I have misread the data sheet please correct anything I have missed.

I recommend you spend some time reading posts in this forum, and then draw your own conclusion as to whether you think TI would consider N support for the CC3000.

I don't want to pre-empt your decision, but I think by the end of this process, you will be looking for another wifi module.
