The example worked for me using s SparkFun MicroSD with the following connections:

CC3220SF          SparkFun MicroSD breakout board

P06 (Data)        DO
P07 (CLK)         SCK
P08 (CMD)         DI
GND               GND
3V3               VCC

initHw() is called during SD_open().  The PinConfigPin() and PinConfigPinMode() are macros for extracting the Pin number (6,7, or 8) and mode needed to configure the pin (SDCARD_DATA, SDCARD_CLK, or SDCARD_CMD).
