Is there any compatibility between kernel version and wilink firmware version?

Means is there any recommendation to use kernel version for particular wl18xx firmware version?

Hi,
WiLink8 drivers were up streamed to mainline linux from kernel 4.1 onwards. You can always backport latest WiLink8 driver to your kernel in case you are running kernel version from 3.12 thru 4.4 using our build utilities : processors.wiki.ti.com/.../WL18xx_System_Build_Scripts. In case you are running kernel version > 4.4 , you may use the driver that comes with the kernel .

Hi,

That I understand, but my question was related to firmware.

Is there any dependency between firmware wl18xx-fw-4.bin and kernel version? Or latest firmware available on repository can be used with any kernel version?

Hi,
Firmware has nothing do with kernel - it's runs on WL18xxMOD controller
