XTR116: The TINA TI design model of XTR116 (4 to 20 mA loop Analyzer) is not working as espected from library of TINA software

Part Number: XTR116
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: XTR115

Hello,

Is it possible to get the TINA TI spice model for XTR116. I have tried with below 4-20 mA Loop Analyzer but it is not working as expected. I tried with 500mv and 800mV input voltage but the output current  is not as per designed simulation model/datasheet (Copied both images for reference. If possible please provide updated spice model for XTR116.

Thanks and Regards,

Nilesh Sabale.

  • Hi Nilesh,

It looks like you're using the model from the TINA examples for the "4-20mA Loop Analyzer". This isn't intended as an official model of the part - indeed, we don't actually have an official model of the XTR115/6. It is only intended to emulate the behavior of the device.

That said, if you do want to use this functional model, you'll need to make a small change. There is a long-standing error in the example that is causing it to not behave as you expect. It's as simple as this - the amplifier is installed "upside down".

You can follow these steps to fix it:

The circuit can be corrected by cutting and pasting the amplifier in another section of the circuit.  Right click on the amplifier and select mirror.  Then rotate the amplifier so that it is now oriented correctly and then paste it back into the circuit.  The circuit will now work correctly.

It should look like this when it's fixed:

    4-20mA Loop Analyzer.TSC

The model that Kai posted is a good alternative as well.

    Cheers,

    Jon
