We want to build peak detector system that senses pulse peak with 50-200ns pulse width and 10kHz frequency for Lidar system. In our system, we are using STM32F411 as microcontroller. It cannot detect the pulse Vp-p level with its own ADC. Besides, we could not use high speed ADC either. Because, microcontroller has capability of max 100MHz clock. Due to the short pulse with and 10kHz frequency signal, we think that we need to use peak detector to sense Vp-p value of the pulse signal.
The signal level is changing between 0 to 4V so, the detector should sense with these levels For instance, the pulse signal level is 2.5V, the peak detector immediately set 2.5V. After this pulse, if next pulse signal is 1.5V, the peak detector should calibrate to the 1.5V instantly. The pulse detector should calibrate as regards next pulse signal. Since voltage level of the pulse signal depends on the distance. Thus, we can analyze the receiver signal without using high speed ADC.
Maybe there is no specific IC for peak detector but there can be solution to sense peak voltage level. I mean maybe there is no unique specific IC, but it can be integral circuits that solves this problem.
