OPA855DSGEVM: OPA855 as high speed TIA, oscillating

Part Number: OPA855DSGEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA855

Hi all,

I am adapting this EVM to be a TIA with Rf = 30k.

I have connected a high speed balanced detector with diode capacitance about 260fF capacitance (520fF total) to the -VE input directly at the junction pad of R2/R4.

R4 of course has been removed.

The +VE input is unchanged from EVM default.

Running OPA855 at +- 2.5V.

Have tried using nothing and also 100fF as my Cf but in both instances I am seeing a strong oscillation around 8MHz.

This is strange, since if there were stability problems I would expect them at much higher frequencies.

Any ideas to solve this are welcome.

David
