Looking for XTR117 with digital input

Hi Team,

Our customer is looking for a 4-20mA looped powered chip. It will be similar to the XTR117, but needs to have digital input like SPI or I2C instead of a voltage input. Does a device like this exist? Please let me know if any additional information is needed!

There are many devices in the DAC product line that can be used to generate a 4-20mA loop. For an example you can look at this TI Analog Engineer's Circuit that describes a loop-powered 4-20mA transmitter circuit:

At the end of the app note, you can find that it works with several different DACs within the line.

Additionally, you could look at the following TI Design. It's a complete system that uses an ADC to measure an RTD, but then uses a DAC161S997 to transmit data onto a 4-20mA loop. The link is to the folder, but there is a Design Guide in the technical documentation.

Finally, there are devices are current output DACs that can be use for the 4-20mA range. If you look at devices like the DAC8750 or the DAC8771, they have current outputs for that application.
