INA293: Propagation delay.

Genius 9880 points
Part Number: INA293
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Hi,

Customer is looking for Propagation delay response of this device, do we have data on this?

According to them, propagation delay is also quite critical in their application which it will be used for hysteretic control.

Maynard

  • Hello Maynard,

So there are two things to consider when using the INA293 for this.  One is if the device has an input <0V input then you will have issues recovery time.  The second is that the INA293 has a varying bandwidth depending on the input.  I have shared from the datasheets the key information on this topic.  You can also see the step response from the datasheet.  How much delay are they looking for.  Below the step function is about 1µs but keep in mind that this will be slew rate limited if going to a higher voltage and settling time may be a issue as well.  Below are all from the datasheet.

  • Hi Javier,

Customer tried to simulate the IC using TINA-TI and observed a 300ns propagation delay from input to output. Considering that they are not using this on the high side and thus will not need the common-mode voltage capability as such, would you recommend any other alternatives with the same bandwidth and precision but with a lower propagation delay (maybe less than 100ns).

    Thank you in advance.

    Regards,
    Maynard

  • Hello Maynard,

I would lean more toward or high speed amplifiers since you are doing low side measurements.  Our current sense amplifiers will not be fast enough.  Let me know and I can forward to the high speed amplifier group.
