INA317: Repeat all the EMC tests

Hi,

Customer is using the INA333 instr. amp in a board for a medical instrument. They wish to replace it with the INA317 that seems exactly the same device except the Max Offset Voltage (75uV Vs 25 uV) and Drift (0.3 uV/° Vs 0.3 uV/°).

Customer confirmation: 

Does the INA317 is the same component of the INA333 obtained after a selection of the previous two parameters? Customer need know if they have to repeat all the EMC tests made in its time with the board using the INA333.

    Hi Maynard,

    INA333 and INA317 use the same Si die. The differences in Vos are due to grade screening from the final manufacturing process. 

     Customer need know if they have to repeat all the EMC tests made in its time with the board using the INA333.

    This is not a call that we can make. Yes, two parts have the same IC design. For medical application, there should be compliance requirements when dealing with the qualification by similarity process and requirements. The customer has to go by the medical qualification requirements in order to make the decision.
