OPA548: OPA548 -Load

Part Number: OPA548

Hi Ti Team,

Does OPA548FKTWT support a load of about 1R?

  • Probably not. This depends on the supply voltage, the output voltage, and the heat sinking capabilities; see section 10.1.1 of the datasheet.

  • Hi,

    please post a schematic.

  • Hi,

To add on to the comments already posted here from Clemens and Kai, the power dissipation on the device or the output current will ultimately limit the safe operating area (SOA), which is the graph mentioned here (10.1.1).  The power dissipated internally will be the product of the supply to output delta times the output current, and, if it is too high, it will cause the case temp to exceed 125C. This will also depend on the thermal dissipation of the board/heat sink. The output current itself is limited by the current limit function, which can be set to a current lower than 5A, but cannot exceed 5A.

If you can post the schematic with supply voltages and signal amplitudes, we can offer more detail on what is possible.

    Best Regards,

    Mike
