Alternative device for NJM2403M

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM2903B, LM393LV, LMV393

Hello team,

Do we have similar comparator with NJM2403M?

This device will be EOL. And the key specs are following.

1. Open Collector Output

2. Low Output Saturation Voltage VoL (see below table)

I already proposed LM2903B, but Vol value is larger than customer requirement...

NJM2403: VoL<0.4VIsink=15mA

LM2903B: VoL<0.4VIsink=4mA

Best regards,

Shotaro

  • Hello Shotaro,

The NJM2403 has higher output sinking ability stage - that is it's main differentiating feature, but is otherwise replaceable with the LM2903B.

15mA is dangerously close to the LM2903B current limit, which would cause large variations in VOL. See the output I/V graphs on page 15.

If the supply voltage is below 5V, then have a look at the LM393LV, which does have higher output sinking ability - but is still cutting it close. There is also the older LMV393 (also 5V). High voltages and high currents can cause package power dissipation issues. Usually currents over 10mA are handled by external transistors or MOSFETs.

Also note that there is a difference in lead width between the JRC DMP8 package and our D SOIC8 package. Check the drawings carefully and make sure the layout can accept the narrower D package.
