Is that possible to add a current amplifier on the 3.3V build-in LDO of DRV8340H?

Hi Amplifier experts,

I would like to know is that possible to add a current amplifier after a 3.3V build-in LDO of DRV8340H?

Since that device is only 30mA output, my customer would like to have bigger current, does TI have this kind of current amplifier?

Yes; the DVDD pin of the DRV8340-Q1 can be used as a voltage reference (although it cannot sink much current). It would be possible to configure a strong opamp (e.g., OPA990, OPA551) as a voltage follower.

But just adding a separate LDO (e.g., LP2950, UA78M, LM1086) is cheaper.

Hi Aaron.

As amplifier team recommended, you can either:
- Implement a voltage follower using devices recommended from DVDD to boost output current (more expensive)
- Implement external 3.3V LDO rated for needed output current using devices recommended and not use DVDD output
