LMV881: Questions about shutdown function

Part Number: LMV881

Hello TI experts,

I want to know about the shutdown function of LMV881.

on page 13in the datasheet, I can see the description as below ;

---

To conserve battery life in portable applications, the LMV881 can be disabled when the shutdown pin voltage is pulled low. The shutdown pin is designed for 1.8V logic levels, with thresholds independent of total supply voltage.

---

then can't I use 3.3V or 5V as a control of shutdown pin?

cause my customer use only 3.3V and 5V for their device.

please check this issue. Thanks.

Best regards,

Chase

  • Hey Chase, thank you for asking a question on the E2E forum.

    The usage of the 1.8V logic is that 1.8V+ above V- will be considered logic high. The max voltage is covered by the absolute maximum table for input output pin voltages.

    The voltage on the shutdown pin should not exceed 400mV outside of the supply rails, but you will need a minimum of 1.8V to consider it logic high.

    Best,
    Jerry
