PGA309EVM-USB: Unable to select model file

Part Number: PGA309EVM-USB

The Model file name field on the "Set up Cal" tab is gray and when I try to select a new file (the file selection window does come up) it won't change from the predefined 4wire_4p096_diode.txt. Same with creating my own new model, the default is still selected and used.

I have tried reinstalling the program, including its NI packages and of course restart the computer, but the field is still grayed out.

  • Hi Henrik,

I am not immediately able to reproduce this issue. I installed the PGA309EVM-USB software on the web using Administrator privileges.  When I run the program executable, I also ensure to run the software as an Administrator. Most issues related to the PGA309EVM-USB GUI experienced with Customers are related to Administrator privileges.

When I click on the "Select Model File Emulator File" button on the PGA309EVM-USB, a new window opens with a browser directing to the "Model_Files" folder and I am able to select and load the desired model file:

Can you please confirm you have performed the steps below:

    1) When installing the software, it is important to run the installer executable with administrator privileges. You could attempt to uninstall the software and reinstall as administrator.  To uninstall the software, navigate to Control Panel -> Uninstall or change program and right click on PGA309EVM-USB and click uninstall.  To re-install the software with administrator privileges, download the PGA309EVM-USB software from http://www.ti.com/lit/zip/sboc320 and save the file on your PC.  Unzip the sboc320 folder, and navigate to the setup.exe file.  Right click on the setup.exe and select Run as administrator.  Follow the prompts to complete the installation.

    2) When running the software, please run the software as an administrator:

    3) After performing the software installation, some users may need to manually modify directory permissions. The default directory for the PGA309EVM-USB data files is located in the root directory, under C:\Program Files (x86)\proj_PGA309EVM-USB. The following directories may need to add full control to the user, (if the user has no write permissions):

    :\Program Files (x86)\Proj_PGA309EVM-USB\Model_Files

    :\Program Files (x86)\Proj_PGA309EVM-USB\Pre_Cal_Files

    :\Program Files (x86)\Proj_PGA309EVM-USB\data

    :\Program Files (x86)\Proj_PGA309EVM-USB\Sensor_Emulator_Files

    :\Program Files (x86)\Proj_PGA309EVM-USB\EEPROM_Cal_Results

Navigate to these folders using windows explorer, select /right click the folder, on the menu select 'Properties' and  select 'Security' on top menu.  To Change Permissions, select the applicable User, click 'Edit' and check mark 'Allow Full Control'.  Press 'Apply' and 'OK' as shown on the menus below.

    4) Although this is not related to the issue you describe above, please ensure the jumpers on the USB -DAQ controller are in the correct position.  Please read the post below regarding the jumper settings:

If after uninstalling and re-installing the software with administrator privileges, and running the the issue persists, please let me know.  Also let me know which operative system is used on this PC.

    Thank you and Kind Regards,

    Luis

  • Thank you. Running it as administrator solved the issue! This should be mentioned in the PGA309EVM-USB User's Guide since it is a non-obvious and mandatory step (assuming you're installing in default location)!
