OPA2348: OPA2348 model only works with PSpice simulator

Part Number: OPA2348
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

If I use the model within a spice simulator (XpeditionAMS from Siemens) the model does not work because it use node names starting with +.
For example: IS1         +IN_CMRR GND_FLOAT 10P (line 63 in the model)

If I exchange all the node names to P_ instead of + it functions perfectly. I think spice does not allow a node name starting with +.
For example: IS1         P_IN_CMRR GND_FLOAT 10P

Could you improve the model on your web site so other people can use the model. Thank you very much

Daniel Brugger

  • Hey Daniel,

Welcome to e2e and I am happy that you were able to solve your issue.

I will update the model to replace "+" and "-" with "P" and "N" in the netlist.
This issue does not occur with TINA-TI or PSpice for TI, is there a reason you are not using either of these simulators?

     All the best,
    Carolina

  • Hey Carolina
Thank you for your fast feedback and solution.
I have PSpice for TI installed on my PC but I use it only for small TI circuits when the model does not function within our simulator.
I am using Xpedition AMS from Siemens since 8 years, because Siemens bought Mentor some time ago. I know PSpice very well (22 years) but Xpedition AMS has much more posibilities and increase the productivity a lot. Within Siemens we used also other simulators from other companies but all collegues are changing now to the Siemens products if possible. Perhaps TI should also provide models for Xpedition AMS. Spice is very slow for switching converter. If the model is discribed with VHDL AMS it is around 30 times faster according my simulations.
There is also a free online simulator where other companies like Onsemi, Nexperia ... provide their models. It would be great if TI also would provide their models there.
