OPA2320: Comparsion with OPA2837

Hi Team, 

my customer wants to replace OPA2320 with OPA2837. What are the main differences between both parts. What has customer to care about, if he replace OPA2320 with OPA2837.

    as you want to replace a 20MHz by a 105MHz OPAmp, nearly everything changes Relaxed

    One would need to see the schematic and carry out a phase stability anlysis to see whether the faster OPAmp can be used in the original circuit. Eventually, changes have to be made to keep the circuit stable.

    the customer has already build 800 boards with the the OPA2837. Of course I saw the different bandwidth when I t compared the parts by my own. What makes the comparison even harder is, that both devices were tested under different conditions. 

    I will ask the customer for the schematic and then follow up in an internal chat.

  • As Kai mentioned, stability for the vastly different GBW between two op amps would be one obvious concern and another could be the six-order of magnitude difference in the input bias current, (max IB of 0.9pA vs 510,000pA at 25 deg C) for OPA2320 vs OPA2837, respectively.  Also, keep in mind that the input current noise spectral density is a function of IB, Inoise = sq-rt(2*q*B), thus the OPA2837 would generate higher noise across large source/input resistance.  For all these reasons to say anything more, it would be necessary to see actual schematic.
