AMC1302: What is the difference application of AMC1302 and AMC1303?

Part Number: AMC1302

Hi Team,

Hope you are doing well!

I found AMC1302 and AMC1303 have difference in the output format. AMC1302 will output analog signal while AMC1303 will output digital signal.

1. What is the application about those two device?

2. Except the output format is there have any performance difference between those two device?

Thanks.

  • Hi Zhizhao,

Both the AMC1302 and AMC1303 are used for the same application, which is to monitor the voltage developed across a shunt resister in current sensing applications.    The delay of the AMC1302 is fixed, but the delay with the AMC1303 is again dependent on the filter used with the device. Performance of the AMC1303 is dependent on the filter used on the modulator output bit-stream.  You can see better accuracy with the AMC1303 since there is only one conversion stage from analog to digital.  With the AMC1302, there is an analog to digital to analog conversion taking place inside the device and that is often sent to another ADC to do another conversion back to digital for use with the application CPU.
