INA212 square wave current monitor problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA212

hello,

I want to make short circuit protector with shunt monitor INA212. I make square wave current ,where impulse voltage is 12volts, impulse width 2ms. period from  7ms to 30ms. voltage that drops to shunt is 5mV, (I made experiment when shunt voltage was from 1mV to 60mV). In the shunt monitor out pin I have saw form signal. I want to get low or high signal from shunt monitor out pin, then I could continue my project.

where I can get more circuit example wtih shunt monitors?

  • Saulius,

You may use the circuit below to implement the short-circuit protection function using INA212 and an external comparator, or you could use one of our INA200-208 series instrumentation amplifiers for applications with Vsense>20mV that include the internal comparator as shown in the schematic below.

  • thank you for your answer Marek Lis,

I have another question, maybe current impulse is to big, to sense as low current  with INA212? Maybe there could be a integrator in front of INA212 input pins? All so I think, that INA212 is working good enough, but its need to make Rs so little, as possible. if I make Rs about 0 oms, in the INA212 output pin is square wave signal, the same like on the Rs.
