Hi Experts,

Good day. Hope I am in the right forum to post this query from client asking solution for pin diode circuit with their following requirements:

"I need a pin diode driver circuit with OH and OL voltages +5V and -9V respectively. The current drawn from +5V and -9V supply voltages is 50 mA maximum. The switching speed should be lower than 10ns for 100pF load."

Could you please advise a solution with TI active parts for this application?

The families of CCD drivers might be useful here, that is kind of a higher voltage range - not sure those cover that and are usually a min dual config. The other avenue might be the THS3491 linear amp, but then you will need to add an iso R to the Cload which may slow you down too much.

Hello Archie,

Michael's THS3491 suggestion would be the best option (output current + high voltage + extended BW) from high speed amplifier side.

Our LED driver product line will be too slow and our low-side driver product line would be too high on the power side for this application. So, I will be moving this thread to our CCD driver group. It might need to also go through our buffer and drivers group.

Hi Sima,

Got update from customer.

I need to place a resistor about 50-80 ohm at the output of driver in order to control pin diode current whose turn on voltage is about 1V. THS3491 can be a solution but it will be an overspec solution with high price for this application

I find LM5110 and LM5112 gate drivers and they are capable of providing negative output. But, the negative output is limited to -5V maximum. I can satisfy VCC-VEE=14V max. specification but my VEE voltage should be -9V.

Is there another low side driver capable of -9V VEE voltage? Thank you for your confirmation.

Thank you for the additional information.

Since, the customer is limiting the output current and adding an isolation resistor, here are other options that could work sorted by price:
