INA381: Is it okay to change the resistance connected to Cvalue MPREF while the device is running?

Part Number: INA381

Hi,

I have a question about the CMPREF pin on the INA381. I want to change the current value to be detected for each mode from the request of the application.

Therefore, using a transistor, the circuit is designed with the resistance value connected to CMPREF as a variable resistance.

Is it okay to change the resistance value connected to CMPREF while the device is running? Or is there any possibility of problems?

Thanks,

Astro

  • Hi Astro,

It is OK to change resistance while the part is running. It will not cause damage.

In the transition period, since resistance is changing and possibly entirely disconnected, the threshold will change accordingly. Therefore the comparator output might toggle. But this should be expected behavior.
