LMP7704-SP: Single Event Effects of LMP7704-SP

Part Number: LMP7704-SP

Hello E2E Experts,

Good day.

I am designing a circuit for the Dragonfly lander and am interested in using the LMP7704-SP in one of my circuits; however, this particular circuit is sensitive to SETs that cause the output to go to either supply rail. Were such SETs observed during radiation testing of this IC? Any additional information you could provide regarding the SET performance of this IC would be helpful.

For reference, Note 6 in 5962-19206 states, "Manufacturer performed Heavy ion single event effects (SEE) test at the TAMU Cyclotron Radiation Effects facility using a superconducting cyclotron and an advanced electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) ion source.  No single event latch-up (SEL) was observed to an effective LET of 85 MeV(mg/cm2).  For more information on SEP test results, customers are requested to contact the manufacturer."

Thank you in advance for your support.
Regards,
CSC
  • Hi CSC,

When I review the TI Space Products catalog I see that some of the products list under Radiation Performance SET/SEFI characterized up to 75 MeV-cm2/mg or similar specified levels, but the LMP7704-SP does not indicate that it received SET (single-event transients) testing. It appear that testing wasn't done for the product.

I am going to check with the Marketing engineers and see if they have any more information about the LMP7704-SP. The product was only recently transferred to Precision Amplifiers and we have very limited information about it.

I'll see if we have any more information.

  • Hi CSC,

Our Marketing team is trying to track the LMP7704-SP history back to the Space Products group. An individual has been identified who may be able to tell us what specific radiation testing the LMP7704-SP received when they supported the product.

The individual is out for the remainder of the week, but is said to be returning early next week. Hopefully, they will be able to tell us what radiation testing was performed on the LMP7704-SP and if there is any supporting documentation.

  • Hello Thomas,

    Good day.

Do we have any updates yet?

    CSC

  • Hello CSC,

I made the request for assistance this morning. As soon as I know anything more I'll post.

  • Hello Thomas,

Do we have any updates yet?

Thank you and I look forward to your support o this.

  • Hi CSC,

I apologize for the lack of response on this. I have not received any responses to the inquires I have sent to the individual who may know something about any SET information for the LMP7704-SP.

Let me try pinging the person again and see if we can get a response to another attempt. It may be that they are in a completely different job at TI and do not want, or have time to revisit something they are no longer responsible for. We have tried finding people who may have been involved with such activities, but have found but this one lead to follow.

Please note that I will be on timebank starting today and away. I will try to check my email if I can. If I receive a response from the fellow I'll be sure to post.

    Regards, Thomas

  • Hello CSC,

I am still awaiting a response from the person within TI that I was referred to. I'll reach out to them again.

  • Hello CSC,

I received word this morning from the TI team that does the radiation testing, "need time to post process the data and create the report. We should have this available sometime end of August."

Please let the customer know that it looks like we will have the report available then. I suggest you close this e2e inquiry for now and open a new one in late August requesting the LMP7704-SP report. We can re-sync then and work on getting it to them.
