OPA991: Pin layout for DCK package

Part Number: OPA991

Hi Team,

Good day!

Our customer found a significant mistake in the datasheet. I have post their full details of inquiry below.

I have recently purchased OPA991TIDCKR and fitted to a development PCB using the PCB layout as designed on line for DesignSpark PCB. The layout used is in accordance with the diagram Fig 5-2 on page 4 of the data sheet for the DCK 5-pin SC70 package. The actual device marking is 1HB so corresponds with the OPA991IDCKR data shown in the table for packing information on page 1 of the Addendum. However, upon assembly of the circuit and subsequent testing, it appears the pinout of the part supplied is actually as shown in Fig 5-1 on page 4. The Addendum-Page 1 table shows there isn't an SC70 package in anything but the DCK version yet Fig 5-1 is also anotated as DCK and SC70. Can you please state exacly which pin out should apply to the DCK SC70 package and, if it is that shown in Fig 5-1 (as testing says it does), then why is it shown in the data sheet as being that in Fig 5-2? .But as far as they tested, this layout information is wrong and it should be like the below. #1 and #4 are inverted.

Could you please check if the customer is correct?
And if they are correct, could you please update the datasheet as soon as possible?

Best regards,

Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

There's several things going on here. First, we have two different pinouts for DCK packages. The one in Figure 5-2 is the standard DCK package which corresponds to the OPA991IDCKR. The customer bought the other DCK package that we have labeled as TDCK, I know this because you said they bought the OPA991TIDCKR. The one additional letter seems to have caused some confusion here!

Now the second thing, the marking of their OPA991TIDCKR said 1HB? If that's true, then it might call for additional investigating on my side as the OPA991TIDCKR should have a marking of 1JE as shown below:

Hopefully this clears things up a little bit, and if you can have them confirm the marking they are seeing on the device.

    Thanks,

    Robert Clifton

  • Hi Robert,

Thank you for the update and clearing this things. I am still waiting for the customer's confirmation regarding the markings.

    Best regards,

    Jonathan

  • Thank you for the clarification. The part ID on the chip I have is 1JE so confirms it as TIDCKR with pinout as per Fig 5.1. At least I can now have confidence in what I have and the required PCB layout. I'll get in touch with Samacsys and have them correct the pad layout on their model. Regards, Robin.

  • Hi Robin,

Thank you for clarifying what the marking is! With that we have confirmed that you have the TIDCKR material!

Let us know if there's anything else that you need from us!

    Best Regards,
