LMV118: Split Rail Supply

Hi,

Good Day.

In section 7.4.2 of the LMV118 datasheet, it states "The SD pin is active high and needs to be tied to V- for normal operation . . . and a resistor to V- (<= 20Kohm) results in normal operation."

Customer's circuit is using split rail power +-3.3V with SD pin tied to ground. It appears to function correctly and it doesn't shutdown. Is it acceptable to tie SD pin to ground to keep the LMV118 "on" when powered from split rail supply?

To clarify, are you connecting the SD pin to GND directly or with a resistor?

Hi Ray,

Thanks for the info. This should be fine as the threshold for shutdown is specified in the datasheet as 0.4V or less from the V+ supply voltage (as described in 7.4.2 and indicated in the electrical characteristics table).
