INA849: replacement for AD8421

Part Number: INA849

Hi Team,

a customer is looking for a replacement for AD8421.

INA849 meets a lot of requirements but unfortunately its supply current is twice too high.  Iq 3.2mA max in the -40-+85°C range for their application.

What other type having lower supply current and low noise do you propose?

Customer needs:4nV/SQHz + corner frequ at 10Hz could be accepted….

Their application requires a gain of 250 with a minimum BW of 5KHz…Low frequ. Application.

Stefan

  • Hi Stefan,

Their application requires a gain of 250 with a minimum BW of 5KHz…Low frequ. Application.

Could you tell us what is the IA's application? Based on the above requirements, there are many equivalent IAs may work, see some of comparisons below.

Customer needs:4nV/SQHz + corner frequ at 10Hz could be accepted….

The following IAs have comparable voltage noise spectral density figures. TI's frequency axis is plotted from 0.1Hz to 100kHz. If you compare the plots from 1Hz to 100kHz, these specification looks very similar.

What is total noise requirements for the application? It is not the best option to eliminate a good part that is based on the voltage noise spectral density of 4nV/sqrt(Hz) at 10Hz alone.  You have to take into account other noise contributions and performance up to 5kHz or the broadband region.

The above comparison is just an example. I could check it out further once I know the application.

    Best,

    Raymond
