Hi Experts,

Good day. Seeking your assistance to this query:

Query on INA229 current sensor - As per the data sheet to read, Temperature, voltage and current values from the register, its not clear from the data sheet the size of each register rather size of data bits are mentioned. This is confusing, as after analysis through software development we got to know that the register size is floating as per the data (either current, voltage or temperature) and SPI should expect the size of bits according to that.

Hello Archie,

Here is a table from the datasheet that shows how many bits each register is:

It is important to note the bitfield within each register, as some registers have reserved or unused bits. For example, the VSHUNT register holds the VSHUNT results data in bits 23-4 of the register, and bits 3-0 are reserved and always read 0, per the datasheet image here:

We also have some example code that you may be interested in through SysConfig, which generates code based on desired configuration settings, and also has convenient functions to read results data. Hello Mitch,

I am still working this query with customer:

Can you tell us how much time INA229 current sensor takes to complete the boot up when its powered. They're facing issue when working with STM nucleo board the sensor memory CRC fails and 'memstat' bit in diagnostic flags and alert register is not set to 1. This requires multiple restart for the sensor to come to normal mode at power-up.

Please help us to understand why this happens and suggest solution.

Hey Archie,

Here is a snip from the datasheet that shows the startup time:

Are they seeing the memstat bit flag after this startup time? If so, then there is something wrong with the device and the part should be returned to TI for failure analysis. This process will be done through the source you got the part from, but here are a couple recourses that should help:
