Can ADS1178 be used in single ended input mode by connecting the negative Ain pins to ground?

Not too much space on my board to add opamps. If not any other recommendations?

    Yes, see page 11-12 of the ADS1178 datasheet, although it is usually better to apply a single-ended signal to a differential buffer such as the OPA1632 (see Fig 28 datasheet). 

    What is the application?  Ideally it is desirable to buffer the AIN whether it be single-ended or differential, so an OpAmp is recommended, regardless.
