AMC1100: For Insulation Resistance Test

Part Number: AMC1100

Dear Team,

I'm using the AMC1100 Isolation Amplifier for DC Voltage sensing,

I need to design the Circuit suitable for Insulation resistance at 2000V, With shorted the all terminals with body.

If I use the primary side voltage from my SMPS the Insulation resistance value was very low,  and spark will occur. I tried the Zener based high side supply but Burdon was very high.

Suggest the power supply requirements.

  • Hi Parameswaran,

Have you reviewed the schematic for our AMC1100EVM?  On that board there is a simple SN6505 transformer driver and a small signal transformer that provides an isolated HV supply to the AMC1100.  The AMC1100 input voltage range is actually meant for monitoring current (+/-250mV max input).  We have parts like the AMC1211 which are designed for voltage monitoring - that part has a 0-2V input range which has a high impedance input and 0-2V input range for DC monitoring.  If you can share your existing schematic, we'd be happy to review it and provide additional suggestions for you.

  • Thank you Mr. Hendrick,

I used the Isolated DC-DC converter with 3kV isolation, It solved my problem.
