INA229: Replacement for LTC4151

Guru 11860 points

Part Number: INA229
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA237

Hello,

My customer is looking for TI replacement for the LTC4151.

They want to isolate between sensor block and I2C control block.

LTC4151 has not digital power input and seperates DGND and AGND. So it was possible to separate the two blocks by using only two photocouplers for the I2C interface line.

Could you please recommend the most suitable TI replacement for the LTC4151 for the above application?

If there is no product with a similar structure, you can recommend it together with a device that can isolate the two blocks.

Thank you.

JH

  • JH,

I'm not quite sure I understand the question. Here is the block diagram of the LTC4151 There is no difference between AGND and DGND in the circuit:

The closest cross we have to the LTC4151 is the INA237, which is a 16-bit variant of our digital family. Could you clarify a bit more what you mean by isolating these blocks?

  • Hello Carolus,

Sorry for the confusion. My explanation of GND on the LTC4151 was incorrect.

The customer said that unlike the INA237, the LTC4151 did not require the VS input, allowing it to be isolated from the I2C controller using only two photocouplers.

Could you please recommend a TI replacement for the LTC4151 for the above application?

    Thanks,

    JH

  • JH,

Unfortunately we do not have any devices in the portfolio where Vbus also functions as device power. As I mentioned, INA237 is the closest cross we have, but the customer would need to bring the common mode down to within the allowable range of the Vs pin.
