Video Switch and Wide Band Video Amplifier

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THS7368, OPA4872, OPA875, OPA3875, THS7327

Hi there,

I am looking for below devices but cannot find any relevant one after searching through THS73xx series.

a). 5 inputs 3 outputs video switch (mainly for CVBS/RF/S-Video switching) with +6dB internal gain

b). 3 inputs of YPbPr (or 3 pairs of component inputs) with 1 output (YPbPr output) with bandwidth of 50MHz and internal 6dB gain.

Any good proposal?

  • Philip,

I do not know of any TI single-chip solutions for either a) or b) but here are some thoughts on multi-chip solutions:

    a) I assume each of the three outputs must be able tie to any of the 5 inputs. The multi-chip solution will require 7 ICs:
    - One THS7368 to buffer/filter all 5 CVBS inputs using 5 out of 6 channels of one THS7368. The SD filter is 6-pole 9.5MHz.
    - For each of the three outputs, a 5:1 MUX is achieved by using an OPA875 to MUX 2:1 cascaded with an OPA4872 to MUX 4:1

    b) You could use an OPA3875 to MUX 2 of the 3 YPbPr inputs, then feed the single YPbPr output of the OPA3875 and the the third YPbPr input signal into the THS7327, which is a triple 2:1 MUX with fixed gain of 6dB and integrated selectable filters (75MHz filter option). Alternatively, instead of cascading an OPA3875 and THS7327  you could cascade two OPA3875s (no filtering) or cascade two THS7327s (all on single-supply).

Note: The OPA875, OPA3875, and OPA4872 would all require split +/-5V supplies.
